THE HEART BEHIND THE STUDIO
I am continually inspired by the moment when a student experiences clarity — when a concept finally clicks and music begins to make sense in a deeper way. Those “aha” moments build confidence, independence, and genuine excitement for learning. Watching students grow not only in skill but in ownership of their musical voice is what drives my teaching.
A Philosophy of Pathways
I believe every student has a creative pathway into music. No two learners are exactly alike, and meaningful instruction requires thoughtful guidance. It is the teacher’s responsibility to discover the right approach — the right “key” — that unlocks each student’s understanding and confidence. Music education should develop more than performance ability. It should cultivate literacy, artistry, problem-solving, and a lasting relationship with music.
Professional background
I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from Michigan State University, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Stetson University.
Over the past five years, my research and professional focus have explored neuropedagogy — the intersection of neuroscience and music learning — with particular emphasis on inclusive teaching practices that support students with ADHD, ASD, and diverse learning profiles. This work has deepened my understanding of how attention, processing, motivation, and executive function impact musical development. As a result, instruction at Keys to Creative Pathways is intentionally structured, flexible, and responsive — ensuring that rigor and accessibility work together so every student can thrive.
I am currently pursuing Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) designation through the Music Teachers National Association and working toward Royal Conservatory of Music Teacher Certification.
Designed for every learner
My teaching integrates principles of Universal Design of Learning — an inclusive framework that recognizes and builds upon each student’s strengths. Instruction is delivered through multiple approaches so that rigor and accessibility work together, not in opposition. When students are supported in ways that match how they learn best, they progress with greater clarity, independence, and long-term retention.
The Path Forward
Every student has the ability to learn and grow at the piano. My role as a teacher is to provide a clear, structured progression that guides students step by step toward meaningful milestones.
Through consistent practice, thoughtful instruction, and creative exploration, students develop both skill and artistic confidence.
